Mission

Motus Dance Theatre, Inc. (Motus) is dedicated to cultivating Indianapolis dance and its dancers, creating and performing new choreography, and strengthening the Indianapolis arts community through collaborations with artists in other fields and by offering exposure to fresh, unconventional dance.

To achieve these aims, Motus will provide the following:

- Regular opportunities for its dancers to be involved in educational and inspirational collaborations.

- Regular performances featuring at least one new, original choreographic work.

- Regular clinics for its dancers to share inspiration and techniques, as well as, further their craft and art form. 

- Creation of site specific work that both enhances the artistic gifts and landscapes of the city and space around us and makes dance part of the community; accessible to all.

VISION

Motus Dance Theatre is envisioned as a dynamic and diverse group of influential dancers who both attract and radiate creative energy. Firmly dedicated to improving their own craft, and the city of art around them, they form valuable, solid partnerships with each other and artists in other fields, producing works of art that are inventive, challenging and honest.

Respect for all people as creative beings inspires them to provide educational opportunities and access to performances to the community at large and to welcome dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels.
